OUR MISSION
Welcome to Brown University’s South Asian Students' Association!
Brown SASA strives to be an inclusive, communal, welcoming, and safe space for members of the Brown community who are of South Asian heritage, identify as South Asian, or have an interest in South Asian culture and history. SASA’s goal is to build a community where members of all South Asian ethnicities, religions, regions, and languages are equitably represented and supported. This representation should materialize in the variety and quality of cultural events, religious ceremonies, humanitarian causes, and educational discussions that SASA organizes, supports, and promotes.
The South Asian Students Association (SASA) at Brown University is dedicated to:
Creating opportunities for members of the Brown community to engage in South Asia-relevant discussions (potentially facilitated by non-Brown affiliated public figures)
Building a community that fosters growth and interaction amongst its members as well as with South Asian Brown alumni
Serving as a social network, cultural foundation, and support system for its members
Establishing relations and promoting cultural awareness within the larger Brown community, as well as the Providence community as applicable
Organizing events and activities that embrace and celebrate South Asian heritage
